Peace & Conflict   Short Stories

WHY FIGHT??? In the eyes of a young person, the world is a place where there is never peace throughout. There will always be fighting from one continent to another, one country to another or even one human to another. Regardless of who you are, where you are or where you

are from, you can make a difference, a change in the lives of those who are hurting, be at peace with one another, put our differences aside and fight for the future of our globe.

The world is said to have been one huge land mass. So is it not fitting for us to paste the broken jigsaw by working together despite race, religion or social status??? Putting aside our differences and making this globe, the beautiful, peaceful world it can be. This may be seen as a huge challenge in the eyes of many but I believe in the good inside of man and working with that, the right steps taken, this world can be a better place.

For the future of our world is it not right to stop the fighting and to save what we have left of this world??? For surely one day history will judge us. Are they not enough problems to tackle like HIV/AIDS, poverty and disease? Are these not enough problems on the international plate??? Every human being has something to give to this world, be it big or small, to a fellow being or to an animal, noticed or unnoticed, everyone has a purpose. What we do with that purpose is up to us.

Wars have been used as solutions for solving the many conflicts that arise. But is war really the solution? Past wars show us that wars don’t solve anything but destroy lives, homes, dreams and hopes. So why have wars??? Who decides if a country should go to war??? The leader of course. The views of the people are not taken into consideration most of the time, though they are the ones who will suffer the most. So is war a country’s decision or is it really a group of individuals??? The thing is everyone says war is bad, everyone disagrees or speaks against war, but no-one actually takes action.

So do human beings have this unsatisfied thirst for inflicting pain and torture on one another, this drive or passion of being greater than their neighbours??? What do you stand to gain by having wars, when even the emerging winners in the end suffer great losses as well? Is it not time to take a changing route and solve the conflicts with something more peaceful? PEACE IS THE ANSWER.

I as an individual am going to start worldwide peace by myself; I will love my enemies and try to solve fight amicably. I’m making a call for my country, Zimbabwe to make a change as well, I’m calling on Africa and mostly I’m calling on the world, life is too short. With peace and working together we can conquer HIV/AIDS, POVERTY AND DISEASE. I believe in the human race.
