The Pain of Love Printable Version PRINTABLE VERSION
by Mbũrũ, Kenya Apr 18, 2007
Media , Peace & Conflict   Poetry

All the time the world mentions this four letter word
And the gruesome acts done on the most innocent victims
Who have no say in the world politics,
It takes me more pain than joy,
To mention that love exists.

The mysteries that one undergoes
In the name of spreading the immortal love
That is bequeathed in the struggle for human position
Yes, the world is poisoned
And love exists only in the air

Those who take the mantle of declaring holy war
In the name of protecting the sycophancy
And asking for the skies forgiveness
Yet causing untold suffering
To the many young, feeble and unawares
And clasping on Kalashnikov
Chanting slogans of hatred
Leave one loathing being born into this earth

The world has become drudgery pain
Causing the cries all over
Living in fear of subordination
…and hatred

We all ask for some recourse
And call for the peace, which has since become elusive
That we eat, drink and live in hatred
Against other mortals for the sins they do not know

Is this worth the life?
And whose life are we living in anyway
If bombs, atomic energy, WMD and hate speech
Spewed from the same mouths which call for love, and peace
It only remains a hotbed soup that works with guns for guns
And not love, compassionate and tolerance
That is surely the pain of love!!

Writer Profile
Mbũrũ

I am a researcher on educational issues especially in the rural areas, with much emphasis on girls' education.

As a trained journalist, I have a lot of concern with the handling of the education sub-sector in Kenya and take a critical role in viewing the reforms currently being conducted to integrate education structures for the sake of the youth in Kenya.

One major aspect, sadly, is that Kenya has been sovereign for over four decades but has been the only African country besides Somalia not to have made education compulsory, free and basic. For Somalia it can be understood - the country had been in civil strife since 1992- but for Kenya the politics of the day have played a negative role in reducing the promotion of education to a system sheer competition, instead of progressive

Apart from that, I write fictitious literature.
Currently I am working on prose on love and betrayal and a collection of poems.
