Peace & Conflict   Poetry

What happens when the guns go down and the sun comes up?
When the rays of the neo-liberal
Shine their vitamin D filled light?
D, D, D, damage control
D, D, D, dupe the enemy
D, D, D, demobilize
And the guns get smashed
By the rocks that once smashed skulls.
The bullet has no where,
No one
To point
So he nuzzles his way back to the street
And finds her full of his neighbours.
His enemies.
His friends.
Their faces all the same,
But their defences gone

And the sun goes down
And the moon comes up,
She’s got structure,
She’s got four phases,
She’s got adjustment,
And only lightens the darkness
For those who can pay
For the stars.
