Peace & Conflict   Opinions

The US led War on Terrorism is good but it is best to understand the root causes of terrorism before engaging into the fight. The fundamentalism that has increased in the world needs to be properly checked and the steps and strategies being used to foster the peaceful existence of humans in this planet should be carefully watched and properly planned before implementation. What the US should note in the global fight against terrorism is diverse and needs concrete attention.

We are living in a seeing things discontented world where the big states are only interested about the global economy, international trade and finance, oil than with the problems that ravage societies and create fundamentalism. To be able to wage a good war against terrorism the root causes should be known. We are living in a world with a lot of global injustices not only between countries but within the same country and against certain people and races. Therefore the existence of global injustice will continue to breed the existence of terrorism.

Money use in terrorism campaigns should be use to fight the problems that people in various parts of the world are facing. There are certain areas that have been neglected for so long a time. We are in a world were some people have no access to water, no food to eat, live in squalid zones and above all they are deprive of their livelihood. In such situations those people care little about those forces that forge civil unrest and in the extreme cases will give rise to terrorism.

The advent of globalization has come with its own problems. Since the beginning of the industrial revolution, it has let to the domination of societies at the expense of others. There is exploitation of societies by others thereby creating the fundamental whirlwind that is ravaging our societies. With the existence of terrorism in the world and the war that has been wage against it; we should try to know these roots causes before involving in the fight.

In this regard the world and the US should know that the use of military action is futile and only comes to worsen the situation. One would not discard the fact that the recent attack on the world trade centre was a reaction of US military bombing of al Qaeda bases after the Nairobi and Dar es Salaam attack on US embassies. Therefore military actions should not be utilized but instead intelligence surveying should be undertaken.

There is the proliferation of arms in the world today. Non-State actors are in possession of biological and chemical weapons which are detrimental to the existence of the human race. Therefore states should not sale out arms technology to those who can easily sideline with terrorist. Again the problem of global injustice should be minimizing at all cost. There should be equality of states in the international political system. This will not only reduce the existence of states dominating others but will make it easy to conclude international agreements in areas that need everybody's attention.

We should know how to go about in the fight for the nature in which states take to fight terrorism can worsen the situation.
